The word biochar describes a broad material family. It does not, by itself, tell a buyer how a particular batch will behave in soil, a cementitious composite, a filter or an industrial process.
A label is not a specification
Feedstock composition, peak temperature, residence time, reactor conditions and post-processing can change carbon content, ash, pH, particle size, porosity and contaminant profiles. Two products sold under the same label can therefore present very different opportunities and constraints.
Start with the decision
A carbon-removal assessment prioritises traceability, organic carbon and durability evidence. An agricultural assessment also needs soil and crop context. Construction and industrial uses may prioritise gradation, moisture, ash, consistency and performance within the host process. There is no single universal ranking.
Build a reusable evidence layer
The practical answer is not to repeat every analysis for every conversation. Producers can structure batch identity, production records, laboratory results and supporting documents once, then map the same evidence to different buyer, application and reporting questions.
